  1. Sam,
I'm glad you got a chance to get your final project rolling.
Sounds like you had fun talking with your friend.
Now it's time to think hard about how you want to focus your piece.

For me, the most interesting thing he talks about are dealing with nerves -- and yet we only hear some surface thoughts on this. (A few warmups, nothing surprising.)

Think more about how might you trim and shape a piece around a particular frame or focus. I'd like to see you make some part of his personality come alive with some dimensionality/complexity for us. We need a little more help as listeners caring about him since we know nothing about him.

You might get some insights from listening to Hannah's audio portrait, also about a performer. Let's talk more about what other kind of tape you have, and whether you can spend more time with Reed.

    Keep going!

    Stephanie

  2. Hey Sam,
I really like the direction your going with this and I think that you have a lot of good material to work with. I just think that you are going to have to go back into and find a structure to work with and focus your topic a little more specifically. I love the part where he is humming and sining. He is a really good speaker and he held my attention throughout the entire thing, I just think that the most dynamic parts where when he used his voice to make sounds and music. I think once you figure out a structure for your piece you will be good to go.

  3. I really like the subject of this piece. I almost feel like you should start the piece with the part where he s doing his mouth and enunciation warm ups, perhaps even focus the piece just on that (not sure though just a crazy thought). There also stuff like your own voice etc which you can cut out as the piece is a little long.
